Budrys meets with the Colombian Defence Minister

On 19 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys, met with the Minister of National Defence of Colombia, Pedro Arnulfo Sánchez, on the sidelines of the Miami Security Forum.

The meeting focused on the need to strengthen the transatlantic link with Latin American countries in countering shared security challenges — transnational organized crime and the proliferation of synthetic drugs.

The head of Lithuania's diplomacy presented Lithuania's experience in countering hybrid threats, primarily China's economic coercion and influence in the region, as well as the understanding of the regional security situation.

"The relationship between Lithuania and Latin America is strong and built on shared values: support for international law, multilateralism, human rights, and democracy. Today, the security landscape has moved from a regional focus to a fully transatlantic one, and thus driven by the need for an integrated response," said Minister Budrys.
