Campaign “Maltese Soup” held at Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry
The traditional fundraising campaign of the Order of Malta “Maltese Soup” was held at Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 18 December. The campaign aimed at collecting donations to feed Lithuanian senior citizens before Christmas.
“Such charity campaigns actually help raise our awareness about the needs of people around us, our responsibility and duty to help not just our closest neighbours, but also people in need all around the world,” said Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius, who participated in the campaign.
Schoolchildren at Vilnius Balys Dvarionas Music School gave a concert at the event.
The Order of Malta’s Lithuanian Relief Organization has organised the campaign for the ninth time already. The fundraising project aims to promote awareness among general public about people living in the margins of society and to help the most vulnerable population groups such as those who live alone, the elderly or the sick.
