Foreign Vice-Minister honoured those who died for the freedom of Ukraine
On 21 November, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Mantvydas Bekešius, together with the representatives of the Ukrainian community in Lithuania and the Lithuanian and Ukrainian diplomats, lit a candle of remembrance at the event dedicated to commemorating the victims of Maidan, the soldiers that were killed in eastern Ukraine and the victims of Holodomor of 1932-1933.
The Vice-Minister underlined that the event was devoted to solidarity with the State of Ukraine and the Ukrainian nation. He noted that both nations are tied by glorious history and the tragic moments – occupations, deportations, wars and the tragedy of Holodomor.
The annual event organised by the Genocide and Resistance Research Centre of Lithuania in cooperation with the Ukrainian community to commemorate the victims of Holodomor, this year also commemorated those who died in Maidan and eastern Ukraine were also honoured.
Today, on 21 November, is the first anniversary of Maidan.
