G. Landsbergis: “Our ties with Argentina are supported by active Lithuanian community as well as principled stance in international organisations”

On 17 January, in Davos, the Minister for Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis met with Diana Elena Mondino, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Argentina.

“Our ties with Argentina are supported by active Lithuanian community as well as principled stance in international organisations”, during the meeting Landsbergis said.

Heads of the Argentinian and Lithuanian diplomacy discussed the impact of Russia’s war against Ukraine on the operation principles of international organisations.

“Clearly expressed support for the rules-based world order fortifies the international community and prevents the authoritarian regimes from entrenching themselves”, the Lithuanian Minister noted.

Landsbergis and Mondino also discussed further strengthening of bilateral relations. The Lithuanian Minister praised active Lithuanian community in Argentina who retains close connections with Lithuania despite the geographical distance.

In 2022, Lithuania’s exports to Argentina amounted to almost Eur 12 million. In the last 10 years, Lithuanian fertilizers accounted for the major share of exports. Some prospects for cooperation of Lithuania and Argentina are envisaged in the fields of e-government, cybersecurity, fintech, gaming industry, and life sciences. In 2018, an economic cooperation agreement was signed between Argentina and Lithuania seeking to promote the business relationships.
