In Strasbourg, Lithuania opens its 7th Honorary Consulate in France

On 6 July in Strasbourg, the Day of the State (Coronation of King Mindaugas), Lithuania opened its seventh Honorary Consulate in France, which will be led by the Honorary Council of Lithuania Francis Hirn, who is currently Director General of Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace (DNA) – the biggest newspaper covering the Alsace region.

The Ambassador of Lithuania to France Dalius Čekuolis hailed the widening of Lithuania’s consular network in France, especially in its north-eastern part with a numerous Lithuanian community, many Lithuanian students, institutions of the European Union, and intensive commercial and cultural ties.

A solemn inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives of local and regional authorities, the EU’s and international institutions in Strasbourg, Consuls General and Honorary Consuls of other countries.

During the visit to Strasbourg, the Ambassador and his accompanying delegation of diplomats met with the region’s entrepreneurs, Lithuanians working for the institutions of the European Union and members of the Lithuanian community.

Lithuania has opened its Honorary Consulates also in the cities of Angers, Bordeaux, Marseille, Lyon, Rouens, and Troyes.
