L.Linkevičius offers condolences over Turkish coal mine tragedy

On 14 May, the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius sent a letter expressing his condolences to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ahmet Davutoğlu over the tragedy at the coal mine in Soma.

L.Linkevičius expressed his deepest sympathy for the families of those who had lost their lives in the tragedy and wished a speedy recovery to those who had been injured. “I follow the latest information about the ongoing rescue work with hope and prayer,” reads the Minister’s letter.

The blast at the coal mine in Soma in the western Turkish province of Manisa killed at least 201 people; about three hundred more miners remain trapped underground. Rescue efforts continue.
