Lithuania opens Honorary Consulate in Ivano-Frankivsk
The Honorary Consulate of Lithuania in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, was opened on 22 October. It is headed by the Honorary Consul Galina Degtiariova.
The Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Mantvydas Bekešius opened the Honorary Consulate and welcomed all the guests.
“I am particularly glad that Ivano-Frankivsk enjoys close ties with its partner towns in Lithuania - Panevėžys and Trakai. I believe that the opening of the Honorary Consulate will make this cooperation even more meaningful,” said Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister.
According to him, the historical solidarity of Lithuania and Ukraine, and friendly relations between the peoples take on an even deeper meaning today.
“Lithuania has consistently supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Lithuanian experts help the Government of Ukraine to implement all the necessary reforms. We also provide humanitarian aid to assist war victims and treat injured soldiers,” said Bekešius.
The ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador of Lithuania to Ukraine Marius Janukonis, the Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Igor Nikolaiko, and the Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk Viktoras Anuškevičius.
Currently, Lithuania has appointed ten honorary consuls in Ukraine.
