Lithuania opens its Honorary Consulate in Romania

On 18 October in Cluj-Napoka, Romania, Lithuania's Honorary Consulate was solemnly opened and the Honorary Consul Anca Rarau was presented.

“I am convinced that the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Cluj-Napoca Anka Rarau, as a great businesswoman, brand consultant, mentor, speaker and community builder, will help Lithuania to become more visible in Romania and will make a significant contribution to the development of our bilateral relations,” Lithuania's Ambassador to Romania Violeta Motulaitė said at the opening ceremony. In her congratulations' speech, the Ambassador also highlighted a strong partnership between Lithuania and Romania in the face of Russia's war against Ukraine and the importance of developing bilateral relations.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Emil Boc, Mayor of Cluj-Napoka, Istvan Tasnadi, Deputy Head of the county, Honorary Consuls who reside in the city, a large number of business, cultural and academic representatives.

Until now, Lithuania has been represented by an Honorary Consul, who resides in Ploieşti, a city in southeastern Romania. With the opening of the Honorary Consulate in Cluj-Napoca, the country was divided into two approximately equal consular districts.
