Lithuania opens its new Honorary Consulate in Austria
The new Honorary Consulate of Lithuania was opened on 1 September in Klagenfurt, the capital of the state of Carinthia in Austria. The Honorary Consulate is headed by the lawyer Ulrich Salburg.
During the opening ceremony, the Ambassador of Lithuania Loreta Zakarevičienė emphasized that the new Honorary Consul would help to better promote Lithuania in Carinthia, to foster political cooperation, business and trade partnerships, academic cooperation and to support reciprocal cultural exchanges between Lithuania and the southernmost Austrian state of Carinthia.
The opening ceremony was attended by Rudolf Schober, the second President of Landtag (Parliament) of Carinthia, the Vice-President of the City Council of Klagenfurt Ruth Feistritzer, the President of the Rotary Club of Carinthia Arno Kronhofer, representatives from the Carinthia Economic Chamber, the church, and the local Lithuanian community.
