LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN

On 11 October Lithuanian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Romualdas Kozyrovičius presented credentials to President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The ceremony of the presentation of credentials took place in the Presidential Palace in Astana.

During the conversation of the President and the Ambassador, bilateral relations of the countries and perspectives of economic cooperation, especially in the field of energy and transport, were discussed.

N. Nazarbayev emphasized that relations between Lithuania and Kazakhstan were very good and had many perspectives to develop in various areas. He expressed gratification with the recent intergovernmental meeting on cooperation in areas of economy and trade that took place in Astana.

The President of Kazakhstan stressed that bilateral economic relations would become more intensive due to the anticipated visit of Lithuanian Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas to Kazakhstan.

The President of Kazakhstan remembered the meeting with Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus in September, during the session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The President wished Ambassador R.Kozyrovičius success in the development of cooperation between the countries. Lithuanian Ambassador expressed trust that Lithuanian-Kazakh cooperation in the areas of energy, processing of agricultural products, logistics, etc., would continue to develop.

Ambassador R.Kozyrovičius is the fifth Lithuanian Ambassador to Kazakhstan.

Lithuania and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations in 1992.
