Lithuanian Ambassador presents her letters of credence to Irish President

On 16 September, Lithuania’s new Ambassador to Ireland Rasa Adomaitienė presented her letters of credence and discussed close bilateral partnership with the Irish President Michael Higgins.  

The official ceremony was followed by a meeting, during which the Ambassador highlighted Lithuania’s successful cooperation with Ireland during the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. According to the diplomat, the large Lithuanian community in Ireland remains the major link between the two countries, and also in advancing economic cooperation, academic and cultural exchange.

M.Higgins congratulated Lithuania on its successful Presidency of the Council of the EU and noted that the experience of bilateral cooperation and lessons learned of dealing with the economic crisis would contribute to the further development of this successful partnership.

The Ambassador also conveyed the invitation from Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė to the Irish President to visit Lithuania.
