Lithuanian Ambassador presents her letters of credence to President of Malta

On 3 September, Ambassador of Lithuania to Italy Jolanta Balčiūnienė presented her letters of credence to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

During the conversation, the President of Malta noted that Lithuania and Malta enjoyed excellent bilateral relations. Malta appreciates Lithuania’s experience, expertise and the sharing of knowledge with EU member states about threats in the Eastern Neighbourhood.

The interlocutors underlined that the European Union countries facing the current challenges of migration must be unite, because it was not only necessary to solve the problem of refugees, but also to fight the root causes of the crisis.

The President of Malta underlined the importance of parliamentary cooperation for bilateral relations and drew attention to a possibility to form the Lithuania-Malta Parliamentary Friendship Groups, which would lead to increased bilateral cooperation.

The interlocutors also discussed the possibility to share the experience of working in the markets of neighbouring countries, e.g. Malta could share its experience of and expertise in operating in the markets of the North African countries.
