Lithuanian and Swedish Foreign Ministers discuss issues on the NB8 agenda

At a meeting on 10 January in Trakai, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius and Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt discussed topical issues of bilateral partnership, as well as important issues on the Nordic and Baltic Eight (NB8) agenda.

Linkevičius presented the results of Lithuania’s coordination of the NB8 activities in 2012. In his turn, Bildt presented the priorities of the Swedish coordination of the NB8 activities this year.

While speaking about the priorities for Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of this year, the Ministers discussed in detail the prospects of the Eastern Partnership policy. They stressed the necessity to closely coordinate the cooperation with an aim to achieve results for the Eastern Partnership policy, especially when preparing for the 3rd Eastern Partnership Summit, which is due in Vilnius this November.

The Lithuanian and Swedish Foreign Ministers had a conversation in the margins of the traditional informal Snow Meeting, which is held in Trakai on January 10-11. The sixth Snow Meeting discusses issues of international and security policy.
