Lithuanian Foreign Minister and the U.S. Ambassador to NATO discuss further cooperation between Lithuania and the U.S.
At a meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to NATO Ivo Daalder on 10 January in Trakai, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius discussed NATO and global security, the development of the Alliance’s relations with partner countries and activities of a Vilnius-based NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence.
During the conversation, the Minister stressed that Lithuania and the United States had common interests, and highlighted the readiness of the countries to further strengthen the Lithuania-U.S. strategic partnership.
“The U.S. is Lithuania’s close ally, and we can achieve a lot, if we develop joint projects both at NATO and bilateral level. The cooperation in Afghanistan and in other international operations that aims to ensure the safety of the airspace of the Baltic States and to support the initiatives of the Alliance’s partners, remains our key priority,” Linkevičius said.
The U.S. Ambassador to NATO came to Lithuania to participate in the Snow Meeting on 10-11 January in Trakai. The meeting, which has now received international acclaim, is attended by about 40 highest-ranking foreign and Lithuanian international security policy strategists and experts.
