Lithuanian Foreign Minister meets with A.Beliatsky, stresses that all political prisoners in Belarus should be released

On 27 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with Ales Beliatsky, the famous human rights activist, who was released last week. They had a conversation about the human rights situation in Belarus. L.Linkevičius reiterated that Lithuania would consistently maintain its position that all political prisoners in Belarus should be freed.
“You had to face big trials. And your story was a very expensive lesson for us and our institutions. We hope that you will continue working,” L.Linkevičius said.
A.Beliatsky was released last week after spending nearly three years in prison.
