Lithuanian Foreign Minister visits the United States of America

On 5-14 October, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius as part of the delegation led by Lithuania’s Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius will visit the United States of America: Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago and Madison.

In Washington, D.C., Lithuania’s Foreign Minister will take part in meetings with the Vice President of the United States Joe Biden, National Security Adviser Susan Rice, Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, other officials of the U.S. administration. The visit includes separate meetings with the U.S. Coordinator for Sanctions Policy Daniel Fried, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the U.S. House of Representatives Ed Royce, Mayor of the city of Chicago Rahm Emanuel, Governor of Wisconsin Scott Walker and heads of non-governmental organizations.

The meetings will focus on the transatlantic agenda and relevant topics related to bilateral relations between Lithuania and the United States: implementing decisions on collective defence taken at the Wales NATO Summit, economic cooperation, energy and information security issues, perspectives for Lithuania’s membership of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
