Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister’s meetings at the European Parliament focus on situation in Ukraine and information security
On 11 February, during the meeting in the European Parliament in Strasbourg Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Rolandas Kriščiūnas, together with Vice-Chairmen of the European Parliament Ryszard Czarnecki and Ioan Mircea Paşcu, Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Andrej Plenković and other members focused their discussion on the situation in Ukraine. The Vice-Minister thanked the European Parliament for adopting the resolution of 15 January 2015 on the situation in Ukraine, that condemned Russia’s aggressive and expansionist policy in Ukraine, called on the European Commission to draft an EU communication strategy to counter Russian propaganda spread in the EU, in the eastern neighbourhood and in Russia itself. Vice-Minister has also presented the document that was prepared by Lithuania, the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Estonia and addressed the EU institutions and EU member states on Russia’s anti-propaganda campaign.
During his visit R.Kriščiūnas has discussed EU actions on environment protection with Giovanni La Via, the Chair of the European Committee on Environment Parliament and preparations for the European Council in March, the situation in the Eurogroup, the future of the EU Energy Union, other institutional issues with Markus Winkler, Head Cabinet of the EP President.
