Lithuanian Honorary Consulate General in Colombia closed
Laima Grigaliūnas de Didžiulis resigned from her position as the Lithuanian Honorary Consul General to Colombia due to personal circumstances as of 1 March 2015. Since 1999 when she was appointed to the position she has been very active and helpful to Lithuanians: provided necessary assistance in cases of emergency, visited imprisoned citizens of Lithuania. She has helped to establish business and cultural ties between Lithuania and Colombia, organized celebrations for the Lithuanian community, represented Lithuania at the Association of Colombian Consuls and the Colombian Nordic Chamber of Commerce.
Colombia has never recognized the incorporation of Lithuania into the Soviet Union and in August 1993, Lithuania and Colombia re-established their diplomatic relations.
