On September 21, 2025, the Consulate General of Lithuania in Los Angeles took part in “Europe in the Park,” a public event organized by the European Union (EU) Office in San Francisco. Lithuania joined around twenty other European countries in presenting their countries to the local public. Its goal was to showcase Europe’s cultural diversity and increase public awareness of the EU and its member states. The event, which took place at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, attracted approximately 7,000 visitors.
This year's Lithuania‘s booth was dedicated to commemorating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Lithuanian artist and composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, and was developed in cooperation with the local Lithuanian community in San Francisco. A virtual tour of the country was made available thanks to collaboration with Lithuania Travel (VšĮ “Keliauk Lietuvoje”). Visitors sampled traditional Lithuanian sweets such as šakotis, grybukai, and commemorative chocolates decorated with images from paintings by M. K. Čiurlionis. The program also featured a live performance by the San Francisco-based Lithuanian choir Ūkana, conducted by Vanesa Kašelionytė.
Lithuania’s participation contributed to strengthening the country’s visibility as a culturally vibrant, innovative, and open EU member state. The program at the booth, which garnered significant attention, showcased Lithuania's potential in the areas of tourism, cultural exchange, and public diplomacy.
On the same day, Consul General Sandra Brikaitė also visited the Genys Lithuanian Saturday School in the San Francisco Bay Area. During her visit, she met with the school community, thanked teachers and parents for their role in preserving Lithuanian heritage abroad, and handed over Lithuanian books and symbolic gifts.
The Consulate General of Lithuania in Los Angeles thanks the EU Office in San Francisco for organizing the event and the Lithuanian community in San Francisco for their valuable support in representing Lithuania.
