Lithuania’s Embassy in Georgia implemented a development cooperation project aimed at strengthening women's rights

On 3 November, Lithuania’s Embassy in Georgia completed the development cooperation project “Strengthening Women’s Rights in Conflict-Affected Areas: the case of Akhalgori”. Eleven women from Akhalgori gathered in Tbilisi to discuss a variety of topics. They were informed about possibilities to defend their rights.

The final conference was attended by Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia Jonas Paslauskas, who stressed that hardships related to defending and ensuring women’s rights and gender equality were global and affected not only the regions of Georgia.

The organizers of this project brought together participants from the Georgian, Ossetic and Abkhaz communities, including refugees from Tskhinvali Region, as well as experts from non-governmental organizations.

The project was financed under Lithuania’s Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme.
