On the second day of the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Antalya, on 14 May, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius stressed that Russia tried the Alliance's vigilance and unity, and called on NATO to ensure permanent presence of its troops in the Baltic States.

The Foreign Minister noted that the actions of the Russian fleet that had interfered with international shipping and legitimate economic activities in the exclusive economic zone of Lithuania.

On the threats from the South, Linkevičius assured that Lithuania would contribute to joint efforts to fight the Islamic State and search for solutions to problems concerning migration at the European level.

At the meeting, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister called on NATO to continue its open door policy, especially with regard to Eastern European countries, and to keep the attention on Georgia, as well as  provide support, whereas implementation of key security and defence reforms took place.

The second day of the meeting was dedicated to a discussion on the NATO response to security threats from the East and the South. The meeting was attended by the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.

There was a consensus among the Ministers about the fact that in the face of Russian aggression and increasing military power there was a need to take long-term measures to enhance security in the East of the Alliance and prevent any possible aggression.
