Lithuania’s Foreign Minister to meet with NATO Secretary General

On 21 November, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius will take part in the meeting between President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who will be visiting Lithuania. This is one of the first visits of J.Stoltenberg, who was appointed as Secretary General in October.

During the working visit, the officials will discuss decisions on collective defence taken at NATO Wales Summit this September, as well as the implementation of NATO’s combat preparedness action plan. They will also examine the conflict in eastern Ukraine, Russian aggression and other challenges of regional security.

The Secretary General will visit the Airspace Control Centre in Karmėlava, where the three Baltic States have established a combined Control and Reporting Centre. The centre’s main function is to carry out the airspace surveillance and control, including the NATO air policing mission in the Baltic States.
