Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister congratulates Lithuanian community in the United Kingdom on its 70th anniversary

On 2 June in London, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Neris Germanas congratulated the Lithuanian community in the United Kingdom on its 70th anniversary.

“For 70 years you have brought together Lithuanians of different age who have different interests and are living in the UK, thus fostering the Lithuanian identity. It is  good to see you actively participating in all cultural and civic activities, teaching your children the Lithuanian language and continuing the tradition of celebrations. You provide considerable support for developing patriotism. Maintaining relations with your homeland, participating in joint projects, and involvement in Lithuania’s public life allow you, in one way or another, to participate in shaping the future of our country irrespective of whether you choose to return to Lithuania or to live abroad,” said Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister, as he congratulated members of the Lithuanian community and wished them unfading energy and enthusiasm in developing Global Lithuania together. Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister Germanas conveyed the gratitude of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius to active members of the local Lithuanian community.

The Lithuanian community in the UK was founded in 1947 by a Lithuanian entrepreneur Petras B. Varkala.
