Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister to attend EU General Affairs Council meeting in Brussels
On 18 November in Brussels, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Rolandas Kriščiūnas to attend the EU’s General Affairs Council meeting in Brussels, which will prepare the European Council on 18-19 December.
The Ministers will have an exchange of views on items on the European Council’s agenda, such as growth, job creation and competitiveness, including the Commission’s intention to launch an initiative mobilising EUR 300 billion in additional public and private investment over the period 2015-2017, EU external relations and contribution to help fight the Ebola outbreak.
The Council will continue the debate on the EU’s strategic agenda, adopted at the June European Council. The Ministers will hold a thematic debate on “An Energy Union with a forward looking climate policy”.
The Ministers will have an exchange of views on the Rule of Law Initiative and strengthening the interinstitutional annual and multiannual programming. The Italian presidency will inform the Council about the results of the meeting of the Friends of the Presidency Group on improving the functioning of the EU on 7 November.
