MFA statement on N. Savchenko unlawful detention and imprisonment

Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the unlawful arrest and detention of the Ukrainian Air Force pilot Nadiya Savchenko and other Ukrainian citizens.

We note that according to legal representatives of Ms.Savchenko her health condition is worsening because of the long-term fasting and it requires adequate medical assistance and care.

We urge the Russian government and law enforcement authorities to respect human rights and responsibly fulfill international commitments, we call for immediate and unconditional release of Ms. Savchenko and other Ukrainian citizens illegally detained in Russia, to allow them safely return to their homeland.
