Vice-Minister Verbickas met with the Ambassador of Israel

On 24 February, Vidmantas Verbickas, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Shelly Hugler Livne, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Lithuania.
 
The sides discussed bilateral relations between Lithuania and Israel as well as the security situation in the Middle East. They also exchanged views on the situation in Iran and Syria. The Vice-Minister underlined the importance of regional stability and the need to uphold the principles of international law. In the context of cooperation within international organisations, Vice-Minister Verbickas stressed the importance of Israel’s support for Ukraine. 
 
The Israeli Ambassador drew attention to recent statements by Francesca Albanese, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory. The Vice-Minister noted that representatives of international organisations, including the United Nations, should base their statements and actions on the principles of objectivity and impartiality.
